 Welcome to the Penn South Co Op Ceramics Studio pages where you can see the works of the handbuilding class. Penn South Co Op is located in Manhattan's west side district of Chelsea.

The class covers basic handbuilding techniques such as pinching, coiling and slabs. Students make abstract forms, organic forms, figures and formal boxes.

Most of the work is made in high fire stoneware and these are the latest photos....more to come! We are building and firing all the time!

Ideas and inspiration for our handbuilt ceramic sculptures come from many sources . . . . we look at books, collect pictures, make sketches and sometimes we just wing it! We look at other artists to see how their work can both inspire and teach us.
